==================================================================== Date: 14th of December, 2008 Service Name: CashFromHome newsletter's Solo Ad Subscribes: 58,000+ subscribers Web Site: www.cashfromhome.com/solo.html Price: $99.95 Tested: once 150+ days ago Guaranty: N/A Comments: A few months ago, I purchased a solo ad to be placed in the CashFromHome newsletter. I had seen several website recommendations advising affiliates to promote their programs using solo ads in approximately 10-15 ezines/newsletters including CashFromHome. With this newsletter being recommended so frequently, I immediately felt it must be a pretty good publication. I judged to soon assuming a subscriber base of 58,000+ would generate at least 0.1%, which is the lowest acceptable click-thru-rate for any solo ad. My past experience with one of the most effective and responsive services resulted in 200 clicks and 4 sales. This was out of a subscriber base of 5,000 which is significantly higher than the minimum acceptable click-thru-rate. Unfortunately, with the solo ad in CashFromHome I generated ZERO sales. I know this sounds horrid, but it gets much, much worse. I went so far as to purchase a solo ad with another newsletter in conjunction with CashFromHome at a discounted rate of $50. Believe it or not, I'm still waiting for the newsletter to run the ad. I've made a couple of attempts to contact them via their support service system. It took days for them to respond and when they did, the only response was that I had not been charged for the ad. I knew this was incorrect because I'd already checked my credit card statement online. I had to make legal threats in order to get a refund. I made it known that I would take legal action against them while reporting them to consumer advocacy organizations. Bottom line, their customer service sucks! Rating: The quality of service the CashFromHome solo ad service offers gets 3 out of 10 because of poor quality and super low click-thru-rates. Out of a list of 58,000 subscribers, I only received 54 clicks. Do the math, that's significantly lower than 0.1%, which is unacceptable for the worst solo ad. I paid $99.95 plus an additional $50 with the second newsletter and got a total of 54 clicks. This resulted in a rating of 3 in value for money and a rating of 3 for results. Customer service gets a whopping 3 due to the slow response time and lack of customer concern. Overall CashFromHome solo ad system receives a 2.75 since they do offer a subscriber base and newsletter, regardless of its effectiveness. Conclusion: I'm really having a hard time believing the accuracy of their list count at 58,000 subscribers since I got such low click-thru-rate numbers. Out of 58,000 subscribers, I got all of 54 clicks. That's right, only 54 clicks and I paid $99.95 for this solo ad service. This system is either exaggerating their numbers or their list is absolute junk. Also, you'll find the same solo ads running due to newsletter publishers not taking special care to space out similar solo ads. It would be great if the publishers would review the subject of the solo ad and space them accordingly. This way leads are not receiving similar ads back to back. Clearly after so many ads, the newsletter publisher should stop selling a particular ad, but of course they won't due to the income it generates for them as people continue to invest $100 each for these solo ads. If this newsletter publisher were responsible, they would take breaks between ad run dates. In other words, if the same ad has been running for a while, subscribers would be given a run date 1-2 weeks out instead of 1-2 days. The newsletter publisher would also refrain from taking additional orders for the same ad after 5-6 ads have been sold. Who wants to receive the same email over and over again? Doing so, almost guarantees no clicks and no sales. Tip: Beware of CashFromHome solo ad service if you are looking to get a reasonable click-thru-rate leading to sales. However, this is all my opinion, yet a responsible newsletter publisher would take their customers into consideration. Rating...
